Vol. 286 No. 3

Written Answers. - Unemployment Assistance.

240.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have unemployment assistance paid to persons (details supplied) in County Cork.

The claim of the first-named person for unemployment benefit has been allowed and arrangements have been made for payment of benefit and arrears due to her this week.

The other person named was not entitled to unemployment benefit on her claim of 30th September, 1975, as she did not satisfy the contribution condition which requires that at least 26 employment contributions should have been paid or credited in respect of her in the 1973-74 contribution year.

Inquiries are proceeding regarding the disposal of contributions stated to have been affixed to her 1973-74 card which was not received in this Department and on completion of these inquiries her entitlement to benefit will be reviewed.

She will, however, be entitled to unemployment benefit at a reduced rate from the commencement of the benefit year which begins on 1st December, 1975, and arrangements are being made for payment of benefit to her with effect from that date.
