Vol. 286 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Barley Prices.

23.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will indicate the relationship between the world price and the EEC price for coarse grains; and if, having regard to the difference, he will seek a substantial increase in the price of barley for the 1976 season.

At present world coarse grain prices are well below the Community threshold price but the relationship varies in line with fluctuations in world prices. When the Commission's price proposals for 1976 come before the Council of Ministers it will be my aim to ensure a level of grain prices which will give an adequate return to barley producers.
