Vol. 286 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trespassing Deer.

8.

asked the Minister for Lands the action being taken by the Forestry Division to fence forestry land in order to prevent deer from trespassing on neighbouring farms and destroying crops.

(Cavan): There is no general intention of fencing all forest areas which may be inhabited by deer but my Department pursues a policy of culling deer herds within its property to a level consistent as far as possible with the safeguarding of agricultural and forestry interests.
