Vol. 286 No. 12

Written Answers. - Dublin House Robberies.

81.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the large number of house robberies that have taken place recently in the Greenhills/ Templeogue areas, Dublin; and if he will indicate the steps he intends to take to safeguard peoples' houses in these areas.

I am informed by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána that the number of housebreakings reported to the Garda in respect of the Greenhills and the Templeogue areas in the period from 1st September to 30th November, 1975, was 27. For the corresponding period last year the number was 25.

The Commissioner says that the incidence of housebreakings in the two areas mentioned, while not a matter for complacency, is not high when compared with other city areas and that the policing arrangements in them are reasonable having regard to the other demands on the available resources.

Question No. 82 postponed.
