Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Armed Forces.

28.

asked the Minister for Defence if, in view of the increase in the strength of the armed forces, he will consider modernising the military barracks in Waterford; if he will garrison a permanent force in Waterford; and if he will make a statement in the matter.

Waterford Military Barracks are used for the training and accommodation of units of An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil and An Slua Muirí. Portions of the property have been made available to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs for storage purposes and to Waterford Corporation for Civil Defence purposes. The modernisation of the barracks and the location of a unit of the Permanent Defence Force there are not at present contempleted.
