asked the Minister for Local Government the number of applications for local authority houses on hands by each housing authority on the 31st March, 1973, and on the 31st December, 1975, or the nearest dates thereto for which figures are available.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Houses.
As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.
The latest date for which statistics of applications for local authority housing were sought by me was 30th September, 1975. The statistics are not yet available from a number of housing authorities. The statement gives the total number of applications on hands and does not show the number approved for rehousing.
Following is the statement:

NOTES:
*Return not yet submitted by housing authority.
†Dublin Corporation carried out an official review of its housing waiting list in late 1972. The local scheme of letting priorities is being revised by the Corporation at present and when this revision has been completed a new housing waiting list will be drawn up by them.
Can the Minister say from the statistics before him if there are increases among them?
It is a long list.
Does each one show an increase?
The Deputy can count them later on. They are not much use to him anyway.
They are of great use.
