Vol. 287 No. 3

Written Answers. - Offaly Retirement Pension.

327.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a full retirement pension has not been paid under EEC regulations to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The person concerned has no entitlement to retirement pension on his Irish insurance alone which does not extend beyond 1953. He had entitlement to pension on his subsequent British insurance and a British pension has been in payment to him since June, 1975, on a provisional basis. An investigation of his pension entitlements under EEC regulations on a combination of his Irish and British insurances was undertaken jointly with the British Department of Health and Social Security. The investigation has now been completed and his pension entitlements under those regulations have been determined. A pro rata Irish pension has now been awarded to him. This award brings the total of his Irish and British pensions, exclusive of any British graduated pension payments, to the maximum rate of Irish retirement pension payable.
