Mr. Sheridan

asked the Minister for Lands the acreage of lands in the hands of the Land Commission in (a) County Westmeath and (b) County Longford; the names of the estates; and the estates that it is proposed to divide this year.

NOTE:—It is not possible to indicate when the individual estates mentioned will be divided but there will be no avoidable delay. The necessary local inquiries preliminary to allotment are being pressed forward as rapidly as circumstances permit.

Mr. Sheridan

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to acquire the Gallagher estate, Killucan, County Westmeath, for division among the local small holders; and the cause of the delay.

Minister for Lands (Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick,

Cavan): The Land Commission have decided to institute proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the property referred to. The relevant statutory notices will be published shortly and served on the interested parties. It is not possible at this stage to indicate what the outcome of the proceedings will be.

asked the Minister for Lands when the lands of the O'Malley estate, Gaybrook, County Westmeath, will be divided among the local small holders.

Minister for Lands (Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick,

Cavan): Possession of the property referred to passed to the Land Commission on 3rd December, 1975. It is as yet too early to say when the lands can be divided.
