Vol. 287 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Architectural Concepts.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance if the architectural concepts for the disabled which were introduced by the previous Government are proving successful; and if there is any rethinking of basic architectural concepts which may be amended by the Office of Public Works.

The code of practice relating to access for the disabled to buildings has been found generally satisfactory in operation and to date only very minor revisions have been suggested. The matter will continue to be kept under review.

I understand this House has been built a long time, but perhaps some small alterations may make it more convenient for disabled people to attend functions of the House and to be accommodated in the public gallery.

I will convey the Deputy's remarks to the Committee on Procedue and Privileges.
