Vol. 287 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 5, 12 and 13 (resumed). Questions will be taken from 2.30 to 3.30 p.m.

Could I ask the Taoiseach on the Order of Business what happened to the commitment he made to the House yesterday on behalf of the Minister for Labour to have the Anti-Discrimination Pay (Amendment) Bill circulated this morning?

Nothing. My understanding was that it would be circulated today, not necessarily this morning.

Is there any particular reason why it is taking so long to have it circulated? The Minister for Labour gave the impression that it was very simple legislation.

No, other than the drafting problems I mentioned. It is now ready and will be available later today.

Is the Taoiseach aware that the legal difficulties in drafting were referred to a little over two weeks ago? It would appear that there has been a very long delay. Is it because of internal struggles or differences?
