Vol. 287 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin Vandalism.

169.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the disquiet among the residents of the Harold's Cross area, Dublin, at the low level of policing there and that one shopkeeper (name supplied) has had his window broken five times in the last five weeks; and if he will ensure that an adequate number of gardaí is provided for patrol duties in the area.

The commissioner has informed me that incidents of vandalism have been occurring in this area but that the Garda are hopeful that this is a temporary matter that will be brought under control shortly. He considers that, in general, the present patrolling arrangements are reasonably adequate for the needs of the area having regard to other demands on police resources. The situation will be kept under review.
