Vol. 287 No. 8

Written Answers. - Schoolleaver's Allowance.

182.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an allowance of £1.10 is the amount offered to a school leaver (details supplied) in Dublin.

The maximum rate of unemployment assistance was not payable to the person concerned on his claim of 18th July, 1975 as his weekly rate of means was assessed by a deciding officer for unemployment assistance purposes at £7.00. On the basis of this rate of means he was entitled to unemployment assistance at a reduced weekly rate subject to the usual conditions for receiving it. He ceased to furnish evidence of unemployment on 23rd September, 1975. It is open to him to appeal against the deciding officer's decision.
