Vol. 287 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clare Factory Closure.

21.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the recent closure of an industry (name supplied) at Miltown Malbay, County Clare; the steps that have been taken to reopen the factory; and the efforts that are being made to get alternative employment for the area.

I am aware of the closure referred to by the Deputy.

The Industrial Development Authority, in conjunction with the Shannon Free Airport Development Company, are making strong efforts to find a suitable industry to take over and recommence production in the factory recently closed in Miltown Malbay.

A new factory is at present being built in Miltown Malbay to house a project which will provide 58 new jobs. Production is expected to start in the second half of this year.
