Vol. 287 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Water Supply.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if adequate water is available for industry in the area in County Cork where an alternative industry is now required in the premises formerly occupied by a company (name supplied).

This is an inquiry which should more appropriately be addressed to the Cork County Council.

Has the Minister had any communication from the IDA in this regard? In the provision of money for water schemes and structural water schemes generally does co-operation exist between his Department and the IDA?

There are no proposals before the Department for a water supply improvement scheme for the town of Blarney. That is the only one which arises in this case. We would not start talking to the IDA or they would not be talking to us until a definite proposal comes from the local authority. This has not happened in this case.

Is there any reason why the Minister fears that I might push on him other problem in the Cork area regarding the inadequacy of money available for water schemes? Has a request been received by his Department to meet a deputation from the Cork County Council? If so, when was the request received and when is he meeting that deputation?

Not about Blarney.

Am I to take it that the Minister is avoiding my question on the situation?

Let the Deputy put down a question if he wants that information and I will be glad to answer it. I do not answer hypothetical questions.
