Vol. 287 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol Allowance.

14.

asked the Minister for the Public Service why the petrol allowance for agricultural officers was not increased at the same rate as for other State-paid persons.

The mileage rates for all civil servants, including those employed in the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, are fixed each year under the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for the civil service. The current rates were fixed by agreement with the staff associations concerned. I understand that the same rates are payable by the local authorities, the health boards, the county committees of agriculture, the vocational education committees and most State-sponsored bodies.
