Vol. 288 No. 3

Business of Dáil.

Before the next business, I should like to express my displeasure at the ruling of the Chair in regard to an urgent question and one of the utmost importance to our fishing industry. I refer to a question I put down in relation to the extension of our fishery limits and I should like an explanation as to why that question was refused.

The Deputy appreciates he is not in order in challenging the Chair in this fashion. The Deputy has been informed of the reasons why his question was disallowed and it is not in order to challenge the Chair in this fashion or to expect the Chair to give an explanation. If the Deputy requires any further information in connection with the matter, I will be glad to talk to him in my office. My staff will be pleased to elaborate on the matter but he may not raise the matter in the House.

Surely this question of an extension of limits——

I will hear no further about the matter now.

The fishermen are protesting at the Government's attitude.

The Deputy has aired his grievance and he must not continue in this fashion.

(Interruptions.)
