Vol. 288 No. 3

Written Answers. - Air Pollution Legislation.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider the introduction of legislation on the lines of the Clean Air Acts, 1956 and 1968 of the United Kingdom.

Existing air pollution legislation includes some controls of the type contained in the Clean Air Acts, 1956 and 1968. While the need for improvement of air pollution controls is kept under review, the introduction of smoke control areas, one of the main features of the Clean Air Acts, is not envisaged at present.
