Vol. 288 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Telephone Service.

9.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the criteria used to establish priorities for the allocation of telephone service in (a) County Dublin and (b) Malahide, County Dublin.

Pending the bringing into service of an extension of Malahide exchange within the next few months, provision of telephone service in the Malahide area is being restricted to high priority applications, for example, those from doctors, hospitals or other essential services or from businesses with a fair employment content. The grant of priority to other applications which are normally accorded priority, for example, removals of residence telephones into the area is temporarily suspended. The same criteria apply in the following exchange areas of County Dublin, namely Balbriggan, Clondalkin, Coolock, Foxrock, Garristown, Lucan, Priory Park, Rochestown, Rush and Skerries.

Elsewhere in County Dublin, including the city area, priority is accorded, subject to availability of local underground plant, to applications in the classes listed in my reply to a question about priorities on 20th March, 1975—Volume 279, column 989 of the Official Report.
