Vol. 288 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Maintenance Grant.

28.

asked the Minister for Education the cause of the long delay in paying the maintenance grants in respect of children from Dursey Island attending primary schools on the mainland.

These allowances are paid quarterly on receipt of evidence from the principal teachers concerned that the pupils have attended school regularly. The evidence was not complete until 26th January and the payments have now been made. It is hoped that it will be possible to make payment in future immediately on receipt of the completed quarterly returns.
