Vol. 289 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

46.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay of 14 weeks in paying unemployment assistance to a person (name supplied) in County Kerry.

Unemployment assistance is not payable to the person concerned as his weekly rate of means, as assessed for unemployment assistance purposes by a deciding officer, exceeds the maximum rate of assistance which would be payable in his case. He has appealed against the deciding officer's decision and an appeal hearing at which it will be open to him to attend and give evidence on his own behalf will be held as soon as possible.

47.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment benefit or unemployment assistance has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Laois since the end of January.

The person concerned exhausted his full entitlement to unemployment benefit on 31st January, 1976 and has not requalified. His application for unemployment assistance of 2nd February, 1976 has been allowed at the maximum rate applicable in his case and arrangements have been made to have all unemployment assistance due paid to him in the course of the present week.
