Vol. 289 No. 5

Business of Dáil.

Earlier this month I raised a certain matter relative to privilege which you suggested, Sir, could be referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges. Since then I have been in correspondence with the Taoiseach and I now ask him formally to refer this matter to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges.

I have had correspondence with Deputy Flanagan which refers to the manner in which comments are made, following the death of a Deputy, in relation to the election figures in the constituency. It is a matter that might appropriately be considered by the Committee on Procedures and Privileges because I expect that all Members of the House together with friends in the Press and media would be anxious that no comment would be made which in any way would infringe the sensitivities of members of a deceased Deputy's family.
