Vol. 289 No. 5

Written Answers. - House Grants.

89.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether houses built by a firm (name supplied) in County Cork are eligible for a grant from his Department; if he will review the situation if it appears that, despite a claim by the firm concerned, his Department's inspectors have declined to recognise for grant purposes a house supplied by them to a person (name supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A number of house types produced by this firm have been accepted by my Department for grant purposes. As the house in this case is one of these approved types, a grant of £250 was allocated and an instalment of £125 paid. A recent inspection by my Department's supervising inspector revealed that certain defects already notified to the applicant and the builder have not yet been rectified. As soon as my Department are notified that these defects have been rectified, a further inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the balance of the grant, if in order.
