asked the Minister for Transport and Power the total number of persons, male and female, employed at Shannon Airport, County Clare, at present.

From the latest information available to me the total number of persons employed at Shannon Airport other than at the industrial estate is 1,855. Those employed by Government Departments and agencies number 1,618 of whom 1,293 are male and 325 female. The information available does not give a breakdown between male and female staff for other employments at the airport.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the companies at present operating at the industrial estate at Shannon Airport, County Clare; and the number of male and female employees in each company.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement setting out the names of the firms operating on the Shannon Industrial Estate. The total employment in these firms is 3,727—2,396 male and 1,331 female. For reasons of confidentiality it is not proposed to give employment figures in respect of each individual firm.
