Vol. 291 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wholetime Farming Population.

2.

asked the Taoiseach the percentage of the population engaged in wholetime farming.

The percentage of the total labour force at the 1971 Census of Population who were in agricultural occupations was 25.1, of which farmers accounted for 16.2, farmers' relatives assisting on farms 4.7 and other agricultural workers 4.2.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state whether there has been any change in those figures since 1971?

I cannot tell the Deputy that.

Because of there being no census, the Parliamentary Secretary is not aware of whether there has been any change.
