asked the Minister for Finance how soon improvements to Eglinton Street Garda station in Galway city will be carried out by the Office of Public Works.

It is hoped to invite tenders in the next three months or so for improvement works at this station. Subject to a suitable tender being received a contract will be placed without delay.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware of how urgent it is that improvements be carried out at this Garda station?

Yes, I am aware of the urgency.

Will he ensure that pressure is put on the Office of Public Works to complete this work as soon as possible?

As I have pointed out, it is hoped to invite tenders in the next two or three months.

Will these improvements be completed in the current year?

I could not give that assurance.

He has no money.

I have money; the contractors have no complaints.
