Vol. 291 No. 14

Written Answers. - Galway Firemen.

126.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Galway County Council are the employers of the full-time firemen in Galway city; and, if not, if he will state who are the employers.

127.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Labour Court has recommended that the claim made by full-time firemen in Galway city should be conceded in full, as their employer, Galway County Council, was not pleading inability to pay; and, if so, why he is withholding sanction for payment of this claim.

128.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of his indication in reply to questions of 7th April, 1976, that he would accept the recommendations of the Labour Court in the dispute involving full-time firemen in Galway city, he will state if his position is still the same.

129.

asked the Minister for Local Government the arrangements which have been made to deal with a serious fire in Galway while the firemen are on strike; and if he is satisfied that these arrangements are adequate.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 126, 127, 128 and 129 together.

The matter has now been satisfactorily settled, following discussions which I have had with representatives of the union.
