Vol. 291 No. 14

Written Answers. - County Cork Unemployment Assistance Applicant.

135.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have unemployment assistance paid to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned was not entitled to unemployment assistance on the application which he made on 19th January, 1976 as he was not the holder of a qualification certificate. A deciding officer refused his application for a qualification certificate on the ground that his means, calculated in accordance with the Unemployment Assistance Acts, exceeded the statutory limit for entitlement to unemployment assistance. He has appealed against the deciding officer's decision and arrangements are being made to have his case submitted to an appeals officer for consideration as soon as possible. He will be notified of the appeals officer's decision without delay.
