Vol. 291 No. 14

Written Answers. - Water Schemes.

136.

asked the Minister for Local Government the position concerning the proposed Coolykereen group water scheme, Kanturk, County Cork.

The design of the Coolykereen group water supply scheme, catering for approximately 30 houses, has been approved by Cork County Council subject to the use of increased pipe sizes on one section of pipeline, in order to facilitate the development of further group schemes in the area. The question of financing the additional cost involved is at present being examined in my Department.

In 1975, my Department applied, on behalf of the Coolykereen Agricultural Co-operative Society, for a grant of £1,900 for this water supply project from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (FEOGA). The final decision of the EEC Commission on the FEOGA aid application is awaited.

asked the Minister for Local Government the position concerning the proposed Baunmore (Lismire) group water scheme, Kanturk, County Cork.

My Department has written to Cork (North) County Council requesting that the group be allowed to obtain a supply for their scheme by way of connections to public mains.
