Vol. 293 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Broadford sewerage scheme, County Clare.

Revised contract drawings for this scheme were submitted to my Department on 9th July last. The remaining contract documents are to be forwarded shortly.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the proposals in respect of the sewerage scheme for Churchtown, Mallow, County Cork.

I hope to be in a position to convey my decision to the local authority on their proposals for this scheme shortly.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the proposals in respect of the regional water scheme for Conna, Mallow, County Cork.

I have approved the preliminary proposals and sanctioned the preparation of contract documents for stage one of this scheme.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will approve the preliminary report of Walsh Island sewerage scheme, County Offaly; and if he will include the houses from the post office to Garrymona Cross in the scheme.

There are no proposals before my Department to provide sewerage facilities for Walsh Island or the houses mentioned.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received preliminary reports in respect of sewerage schemes for Belmont, Killeigh and Cloneygowan, County Offaly; and when they will be approved.

The preliminary reports for these schemes are under examination in my Department at present. I cannot indicate at this stage when decisions on these reports will issue to the local authority.

Will they be approved in the coming year?

The preliminary reports for these schemes are under examination at the moment. Further than that I cannot say.

Is there any chance?

I can only say I share the Deputy's concern.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received contract documents in respect of Stage 2 of Edenderry sewerage scheme, County Offaly, at a cost of £148,000; and when they will be approved.

I am not in a position to indicate at present when I will give my decision on these documents which are under consideration in my Department.

Is there any hope that the Parliamentary Secretary will give his decision in the new year? The people of Edenderry would like to know. They will be expecting a bit of good news. This concerns both of us.

There is always hope.
