asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the areas of County Wexford not yet served by automatic dial telephones; and the proposals his Department has in respect of those areas.

There are at present three exchanges in County Wexford which have not automatic telephone service, namely, Ballycanew, Ballygarrett and Hollyfort. It is hoped to convert these exchanges to automatic working in 1978.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (i) the number of applicants awaiting telephones in County Wexford at present (ii) the number of applications on hands over two years (iii) the number of applications received during the past 12 months (iv) the number of telephones installed during the past 12 months and (v) the proposals he has for dealing with applications within an acceptable time.

The figures requested are approximately as follows: (i) 815, (ii) 115, (iii) 740, (iv) 860, (v) It is hoped to instal telephones for about 120 of the waiting applicants during the next 3 months or so, for about a further 500 during 1977 and the remainder progressively during 1978. In addition, applications in priority classes will, subject to availability of plant, be attended to as early as practicable after receipt.
