Vol. 294 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Cork Pensioner.

61.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will examine why genuine expenses were not considered by a pension officer or examined by him when he investigated the means of a person (details supplied) in County Cork who applied for a noncontributory old age pension; and if he will now have them taken into account.

The report of the social welfare officer who investigated the claim of the person concerned shows that expenses were in fact allowed in arriving at the assessment of means. The local pension committee rejected the claim on the basis of the social welfare officer's assessment and the claimant has been notified of his option to appeal against this decision.
