Vol. 294 No. 4

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

112.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone kiosk will be erected at Annacotty village, County Limerick.

It is planned to provide a kiosk to serve the Annacotty/Lisnagry area. The question of its location will, it is hoped, be settled early in the New Year when arrangements will be put in train to provide the kiosk.

113.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why repairs were not carried out to telephone trunk lines from Dublin to Edenderry, County Offaly, which were out of order on the 15th, 16th and 17th November, 1976, when Edenderry exchange could not be contacted to make urgent business calls.

Three of the trunk circuits from Dublin to Edenderry were affected by faults on the dates in question. As these faults were in underground cables, there was, it is regretted, some unavoidable delay in localising and clearing them.

Mr. Kitt

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a decision will be made to install a telephone for the building contractor (name supplied) in County Galway who applied for it four-and-a-half years ago and who needs it for his business.

Provision of service at the residence of the person concerned, who applied in May, 1974, involves the erection of extensive new linework. Because of this and the heavy volume of engineering work awaiting attention in County Galway, it is unlikely that the application will be dealt with until the first half of 1978.
