Vol. 294 No. 6

Written Answers. - Unemployment Assistance.

49.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will pay unemployment assistance to a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who applied some months ago.

According to the records of my Department the application of the person concerned for a Qualification Certificate, which is a necessary requirement for entitlement to Unemployment Assistance, was made on 9th November, 1976. The case was referred immediately to a local Social Welfare Officer who has already made one unsuccessful call to the applicant for the purpose of investigating his means. Every effort is being made to have the necessary inquiries completed and a report furnished as quickly as possible. As soon as this has been done the case will be decided without delay.
