asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the refusal by his Department to pay unemployment assistance to a person (name supplied) in County Limerick.

The person concerned was not entitled to unemployment assistance on his application of 9th June, 1976, as he was not the holder of a qualification certificate which is a necessary requirement for entitlement to assistance. His application for a qualification certificate was disallowed by a deciding officer on the grounds that he had failed to furnish particulars of his means. When he appealed against the disallowance he was given a further opportunity of furnishing the required information. On the basis of the information then given by him the deciding officer has given a revised decision which entitles him to a reduced rate of unemployment assistance with effect from 9th June, 1976. Arrangements have been made to have all arrears due to him paid during the present week.
