Vol. 296 No. 2

Financial Resolution: General.

I move:

That it is expedient to amend the law relating to customs and inland revenue (including excise) and to make further provision in connection with finance.

I understand that it is not proposed to debate this resolution but to divide on it now and that the budget will be debated subsequently on a "take note" motion. Is that satisfactory?

Of course the reason that we have no other resolutions is that the Minister is borrowing again to meet his obligations.

Deputy Haughey last year told me to borrow another £100 million on top of what I had borrowed.

No, I did not.

Yes, he did and that is the effect of what Deputy Colley said.

The Minister gave out all the goodies and borrowed to pay for them.

Question put.
