Cavan): The responsibility of my Department in regard to the provision of airstrips is limited to giving technical advice and determining the operational suitability of proposed sites.
Sites at Achill and Belmullet have been inspected by an aeronautical officer of my Department who has discussed the suitability of the sites with representatives of the developers but applications for the licensing of airstrips at these locations have not, as yet, been made to my Department.
