asked the Taoiseach the number of agricultural workers employed in the country on 1st June, 1973, and 1st June, 1976.

The estimated number of males engaged in farmwork, including members of the farm family, was 250,500 on 1st June, 1973. A preliminary estimate of the corresponding figure for 1st June, 1976, is 235,000. This figure is subject to revision.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary please repeat the figures?

Certainly. The first figure is 250,500 and the second figure is 235,000.

A reduction of 15,000.
