Vol. 296 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Museum Staff.

1.

asked the Minister for Education the plans he has to increase the staff of the National Museum.

In keeping with Government policy on the avoidance of new appointments in the public service there are no proposals at present to increase the staff of the National Museum.

Have any representations been made to the Minister asking for an increase in staff in the National Museum?

How many additional

Two have been applied for officially but because of extensions there may be other posts sought.

With regard to what the Minister said yesterday regarding the increased payment for technicians in the dispute in Kevin Street and Bolton Street does he see any light at the end of the tunnel for this particular institution?

The same conditions would apply.

Would there be some priorities?

There obviously have to be priorities in every sector of the Government and in the branches out from those sectors demands will come to the Minister for Finance to sanction additional posts and what are called special increases in parties. He will have to look at the parties in that regard. The one yesterday and the one today will both come into those that will be seeking to be included in those priorities.
