Vol. 297 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Probate Delays.

25.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the undue hardship caused to undertakers because of the delay in winding up estates; and if he will make a statement in the matter.

The winding up of the estate of a deceased person is regulated by law and is the responsibility of the executor or administrator appointed for the purpose. In case the suggestion is that there are delays in the issue of grants of representation by the Probate Office I can say that this is not so and that in fact applications for such grants are dealt with promptly.
