Vol. 297 No. 11

Written Answers. - Waterford School Gymnasium.

3.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need for a gymnasium at Mount Sion School, Waterford, and of the large numbers attending this school, both primary and secondary, which is in the centre of a built-up area and that a local contribution will be forthcoming if his Department is prepared to make funds available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Because of the overriding need to reserve available capital resources for the provision of essential classroom and laboratory accommodation in post-primary schools, it has been found necessary to suspend for the present the scheme of grants towards the cost of sports halls or gymnasia in post-primary schools, including Mount Sion, Waterford.
