Vol. 298 No. 4

Written Answers. - Medical School Examinations.

78.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the long delay for primary schoolchildren from the time of examination by the school medical officer to their receiving an appointment with a specialist (details supplied); and if he will take the necessary steps to have the position rectified.

The provision of specialist ophthalmic services in this case is a matter for the Southern Health Board.

I am advised by the board that in 1976 renovations to the Health Centre in Kanturk served to delay the provision of specialist services for this child and other persons in the area. However, I understand that this position has now returned to normal and that the child in question is listed for examination by the specialist on 7th April next.
