Vol. 298 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin TV Service.

102.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has received representations in regard to the provision of a communal television aerial service in the vicinity of Howth Road, Clontarf, Dublin; and the steps he has taken to ensure the provision of such a service.

My functions in regard to the provision of cable television systems are to issue licences under the Wireless Telegraphy (Wired Broadcast Relay Licence) Regulations, 1974, and to ensure that the conditions of the licences are complied with. A licence has been issued in respect of the district referred to by the Deputy and I understand that service has in fact been provided for many of the residents.

I have received representations regarding the provision of service to certain residents in the area roughly between Hollybrook Park and Collins Avenue. The company concerned have confirmed that it is their intention to provide service in these cases but state that there will be delay, for technical and financial reasons, in completing the work.
