Vol. 299 No. 9

Written Answers. - Driving Licence Suspension.

61.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the hardship caused in the case of a person (name supplied) in County Meath who was fined £121 and had his driving licence suspended for four months for driving without road tax and insurance; and if he will take steps to remedy the injustice in view of the fact that (a) this person had presented his insurance certificate at the Garda station in Ballivor (b) he would have attended the court but he was informed by the gardaí by letter on 11th April, 1977, that the case had been postponed and (c) he is dependent on the licence for his livelihood as a lorry driver.

My inquiries into the matter have not yet been completed. I will communicate with the Deputy within a couple of days.
