My Department made proposals in March, 1974, to Mayo County Council, who are responsible for Belderrig harbour, with a view to improving the harbour. A State grant of 75 per cent of the cost of this scheme was offered to the county council. This offer was accepted only in relation to the provision of a winch which was installed at the harbour. My Department are at present examining alternative proposals made by the fishermen.
