An oral hearing of the appeal against the disallowance of his disability benefit claim by the person referred to by the Deputy is being arranged for week commencing 24th October, 1977.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when disability benefit will be paid to a person (name supplied) in County Meath.

Disability benefit could not be paid from 5th June, 1977, on the claim of the person referred to by the Deputy as his insurance card for 1976, the contribution year which governs the period of his claim from that date, had not been stamped. Following collection of the outstanding contributions by my Department, the amount of benefit due has now been paid.

286.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision will be reached on the application for increased widow's pension by a person in County Meath (details supplied).

A widow's non-contributory pension at the maximum rate was in payment to the person named by the Deputy up to 28th July, 1977. Following a reinvestigation of her means it was ascertained that her income, derived from a holding of land, had increased substantially since the date of the last assessment in her case and her rate of pension was reduced accordingly.

Representations made by the Deputy were accepted as an appeal on behalf of the widow. Before referring the case to an appeals officer it was decided to make further inquiries regarding the assessment of income from the holding. These inquiries are being expedited and it is hoped to have the matter placed before an appeals officer within the next ten days.

287.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a book for old age non-contributory pension due since 1st October will be forwarded to a person in County Meath (Details supplied).

A pension order book commencing on Friday, 7th October, 1977, has been issued to the post office of payment in this case.
