Vol. 300 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disability Benefit Claim.

288.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision will be reached on the claim for disability benefit by a person in County Meath (details supplied).

The person referred to by the Deputy claimed disability benefit from 21st July, 1977. As, however, the certified incapacity is the same as that which appeared on his certificates in respect of a previous claim which had been disallowed from 30th March, 1977, following examination by a medical referee of my Department who expressed the opinion that he was capable of work, a decision on his current claim has been withheld pending a further examination by a medical referee. This examination has been arranged for 21st October, 1977, and a decision on the claim will be given in the light of the medical report on this examination.
