Vol. 300 No. 5

Written Answers. - Workers' Pay Rates.

275.

asked the Taoiseach the revised rates of pay for forestry workers and county council road workers payable in October, 1977, under the 2nd Phase of the 1977 National Wage Agreement; and the minimum rates payable to agricultural workers in the form of a reply of 26th October, 1976.

The following statement gives for each county,

(a) the basic weekly rate of wages and the hourly equivalent of the basic weekly rate of wages paid to forestry workers for a 40-hour week. An incentive bonus is payable in addition to those rates,

(b) weekly rates of wages and the hourly equivalent of the weekly rates (both excluding service pay) paid by county councils to road workers for a 40-hour week,

(c) minimum weekly rates and the hourly equivalent of these rates payable to adult agricultural workers under the Employment Regulation Order No. 2 (Agricultural Workers Joint Labour Committee) 1977. These rates apply to a 45-hour week in the period March to October inclusive and to a 42½-hour week during the remainder of the year.

In the case of forestry and road workers the rates quoted incorporate the second phase of the 1977 National Wage Agreement and will come into effect on 1st November next. The rates for adult agricultural workers came into effect on 26th September, 1977.
