The number of pensions in payment is as follows:—

(a) Retired established civil servants

There are no occupational pension provisions for the widows of unestablished civil servants.

asked the Minister for the Public Service when it is proposed to publish a booklet for the information of unestablished civil servants indicating the principal provisions of the non-contributory superannuation scheme and provisions for holidays and sick pay, on the lines of the booklets published by the Department of Labour.

I am not in a position to say when it will be possible to publish a booklet on the lines envisaged by the Deputy. In the meantime information on specific aspects of the conditions of employment referred to is readily available on request from Personnel Branches.

278.

asked the Minister for the Public Service the present position regarding the provision of widows' pensions, including ex-gratia payments for widows of unestablished State employees.

The provision of a contributory widows' pension scheme for serving unestablished State employees is at present the subject of negotiations at the Joint Industrial Council for State Industrial Employees. The question of providing an ex-gratia scheme for retired personnel will be considered in the light of the outcome of these negotiations.
