Ninety-nine monuments are in the guardianship of the Commissioners of Public Works under section 5 (1) of the National Monuments Act, 1930.
I am aware of only two monuments in the guardianship of local authorities under that section.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of cases in which the guardianship of a national monument by either the Commissioner of Public Works or a local authority has been terminated by the procedures outlined in section (5) (3) (c) of the National Monuments Act, 1930 or a subsequent enactment.
In no case has guardianship of a national monument by the Commissioners of Public Works been terminated by the procedures outlined in section (5) (3) (c) of the National Monument Act, 1930, or a subsequent enactment, nor am I aware of any case where guardianship by a local authority has been terminated in this way.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of national monuments which have been the subject of a preservation order under the National Monuments Acts; and the number within this category which are subject to the guardianship of the Office of Public Works itself.
Preservation Orders under the National Monuments Acts, 1930 and 1954, have been made in respect of 309 monuments. Of these 69 are in the guardianship of the Commissioners of Public Works.
