Vol. 300 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Industrial Development.

35.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he is aware of the need for new industry in west Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the need for further industrial development in west Waterford.

I understand that the Industrial Development Authority are actively engaged in seeking suitable new industries for the area and that discussions are at present taking place with two companies about the possible location of projects there.

The authority is negotiating the purchase of a site at Cappoquin on which a 7,000 square feet advance factory will be constructed; this will be an added incentive in the promotion of the town as a location for new industry.

The authority also owns an industrial site at Tallow which is being vigorously promoted for a suitable project.

The remaining questions will appear on next Tuesday's Order Paper.

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply to Question No. 23 on Tuesday's Order Paper, I should like permission to raise the subject matter of that question on the Adjournment.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I wish to raise it on the Adjournment next week, preferably.

If the Deputy wishes to raise it next week, he will have to mention it on the day he wishes to raise it.
